Double Eagles @ $1,000+?
Has anyone bought one recently? What are they going for? I've gotten several off EBay at prices ranging from $830 to $945 and now I see that decent ones are going for over $1,000 in some cases. Here in Taiwan we can't buy from APMEX or any other US dealers because they refuse to ship overseas, so some idea of the prices would be helpful.
Modern American Eagles, Aussie Kangaroos, Maple Leafs go for spot +6% at the bank here, so spot +@10% does not seem so bad for a 100- or 130-year-old coin... :rolleyes_m: |
Re: Double Eagles @ $1,000+?
It depends on exactly which one you're talking about. A lot of these go for essentially spot (plus a few bucks). That goes for even the mint state ones. I think recently a lot of dealers have been charging higher premiums on them though. Personally I'd grab them at close to spot whenever I could.

Well, I consider anything under 10% to be "close to spot" for such old and beautiful coins...but some here seem to think that 1% is too much...:no_ma:

I bought a few a couple months back. Most would be considered AU to MS62 and I paid spot + 20 to $30
